The month of May is mental health awareness month with the month’s theme for 2021 being – You Are Not Alone.

Numerous people, even prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic suffered in silence. Now, as the pandemic continues, the plight for mental health services and treatment is at an all time high despite the states still issuing lockdowns. Telehealth is an option for most with health care insurance to be able to communicate effectively with a provider and receive treatment at little to no cost.

1/5 adults will experience a mental health illness each year in the US.

1/20 adults experience a severe mental health illness each year in the US.

1/6 youth will experience a mental health issue each year in the US (age range 6-17).

The second leading cause of death is suicide for people between the ages of 10-34.

By age 14, 50% of all lifetime illnesses begins and by age 24, it is 75%

National Prevention Week is May 10-16 – dedicated to being awareness to those who suffer from mental health illness and help those who are needing assistance to reach out for care.

Schizophrenia Awareness Week is May 13-19 – Those with schizophrenia may appear as if they lost touch with reality. Symptoms begin between ages 16-30

While the entire month of May is Border Line Personality Disorder (BPD) – is an illness marked by an ongoing pattern of varying moods, self-image and behavior.
